Welcome to the Networks, Computation,

and Social Dynamics Lab

About the Lab

Our lab focuses on the development and application of formal (i.e., mathematical, computational, and statistical) techniques to the study of social and technical systems, with a particular emphasis on relational structures and dynamics.  We are also engaged in research that applies these methods to physical, biological, or other systems, and in work that uses these approaches to inform policy and technology development.

Our Home at CNRA and Calit2

Our research lab is part of the UCI Center for Networks and Relational Analysis (CNRA), located in the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) in room 3301. Calit2 is a multidisciplinary research institute whose mission is to support research leading to innovative, information technology-based products and services that benefit society and ignite economic development in the region and state.

The NCASD lab advances this mission through basic research that develops new computational techniques and that deploys those techniques to address problems in areas ranging from public heath and emergency management to communication and online services.
