The American Social Fabric Study

The American Social Fabric Study (ASFS) is a large-scale, spatially stratified egocentric social network survey of residents in the western United States.  The ASFS consists of four component studies employing the same instrument: the Twin Communities Study (a population sample from two regions within Santa Ana and Irvine, California); the LA Network Study (a population sample from the city of Los Angeles, CA); the Southern California Regional Study (a spatially stratified sample of persons in the southern California region); and the Western US Study (a spatially stratified sample of persons in the western US).  Files below include both the data and the study codebook (with information on the design, administration, and instrument).
